Delivering a greener and more sustainable tomorrow to the next generation requires major effort starting today. Sustainability is no longer just a concept. It is a commitment that requires us to take urgent action to accelerate all the processes necessary to achieve this universal goal. Like Federorafi, we too have a mission, one that looks to the future of the industry and the impact it can have on the planet. What can we do? Ensuring transparency and traceability of products is already our task, on which we continue to monitor, and this allows us to have a clear picture of the type of materials that are being fed into the supply chain. But it becomes more essential than ever on our part to foster virtuous partnerships that enable us to adopt certifications capable of meeting standard criteria that are valid for all the actors involved, and at the international level. Only in this way will we be able to affix a seal of guarantee certifying the ethical and low-impact value of our products. This implies the development of guidelines and related operational tools that allow us to systematize the different sustainability initiatives carried out by member companies, sharing their best practices in the sector, in order to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Many initiatives in this regard have already sprung up, some of them very well-known at the global level. These include the Fashion taskforce of the Sustainable Markets initiative initiated by the former Prince of Wales and chaired by Federico Marchetti, founder of Yoox-Net-a-porter. But much more needs to be done. That’s why our team, which includes Silvia Bezzone (BULGARI JBU Quality Specification Senior Manager), Omar Antonio Cescut (LEM Industries Chief Marketing & Communication Officer) and Denise Vangelisti (FRESCHI E VANGELISTI R&D and HR Manager), is working to set up new tables around which to address the various issues affecting sustainability.
